BP2_Photo_Peach

The Web 2.0 application that I chose was Photo Peach. After researching and looking at a few YouTube videos about it I decided to download it and give it a try. I am always doing projects that require the students to take photos and I am always taking photos and videos in class. This application allows you to easily upload photographs and create a very nice slideshow with music in the background. It will also allow you to share your photographs with your friends. The application is very user friendly, the photographs uploaded very easily and the music was readily available to add to the project. Sharing your video is very easy, with the click of the mouse you can post the video to Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and you can share through emails. You can leave a comment after watching the video.

Now that I have given you the good news let’s talk about a few of the set back qualities when it comes to students. The biggest setback is to signup for the premium service it will cost you 3 dollars a month. This doesn’t sound like much but when you are a student or a teacher every dollar counts. The premium service will let you have unlimited downloads of your video and it will allow you to up load MP3 files to be used in your video. Without the premium version you can only share over the Internet and use the music they provide.

I think the positives out weigh the negatives and I would recommend this application for students and
teachers to use.

In my classroom I would have my students using Photo Peach in our forensics unit. During this unit the students photo journal there crime scene investigation procedures, from walking up to the crime scene to the release of the evidence to the crime lab and testifying if necessary. Each of the teams would create a video to be used for critiquing their procedures. The students would use a rubric and a feed back sheet for each team. The students would then show there video at the year end showcase. I think it will be a nice addition to the showcase.
